I was disappointed not to see any people/women of color that looked "African" American of Black African descent. We serve a 87% African American population at our center. I am sure Carenet is aware of the disparity in abortion rates in the African American community. What I am not sure is that you are aware of the research that shows the increased response to information when a group is able to "see" themselves depicted in any form of median. It would have been nice to have been able to turn the page to at least one image that represented the majority of our participants. I would love to have a reply from the designers of the piece regarding this.
Admin Response: Thank you for your feedback, Carole! We have forwarded your comments to our graphic designer for input on future renditions of the magazine. We did incorporate many different races into the magazine with this 2019 update and included three different covers for diversity as well, but we are always looking for ways to improve and refine our products for our centers to make it the best it can be.
Nice layout, contemporary graphics, gives information in a factual way.
