Doctor Dad®: Basic Training is an interactive online course packed with information that has immediate practical applications for new dads. In each lesson, you'll learn things like how to care for a pregnant partner, how to calm a crying baby, the importance of skin-to-skin contact, child nutrition, how to take a temperature, and gun safety. Not only will we walk you through the practical hands-on skills of being a dad, but you will also go in-depth on topics like compassion, suffering, anger, and patience through a brief devotional at the end of each step.

Each key training module is created by experienced dads, medical professionals, and seasoned pregnancy center staff for the dad who wants to learn practical skills that will make a difference in the life of his child and partner. This course is a great first step in learning more about how to care for your child and pregnant partner and will equip you to embrace fatherhood with confidence!

Q: Does it come with training?

A: Yes, it comes with a free training course on how to implement the curriculum, plus all the complementary support you need from Care Net's Fatherhood & Family Team! All free!

Q: Is your material faith-based?

A: Yes and no. The authors of the curriculum are believers, so you can see Jesus woven throughout the courses without necessarily saying His name. However, at the end of each module of the course, there is an optional devotional to complete. While they are optional, they are integrated (not an add-on) that we find most guys complete and appreciate. We're about Abundant Life around here and want to help you tie the important practical and medical information to eternal truths about God's heart as a Heavenly Father - but we don’t make a client complete a devotion in order to graduate.

Q: What makes Doctor Dad the best curriculum for men at a pregnancy center?

A: We realize there are a lot of curriculums out there for your clients. When creating Doctor Dad, we wanted to make sure that your client had to do more than watch a video in order to get diapers. The courses are interactive. There are videos, flip cards, fill-in-the-blanks, matching, and even projects for them to upload. A client can’t progress to the next part of the course without doing the work. Being a dad is a skill and a journey. We want the client to learn and then perform the skill while going on this journey with you! We find that dads are up for the challenge and proud of their results, demonstrating consistent improvement in scores for knowledge, planned engagement, and competence.

Q: How do the clients take the course?

A: Each client gets their own login that saves their progress, and the sessions can be completed on a phone or computer at the client's own pace, at a one-on-one appointment with a coach, or even in a group for camaraderie and fellowship. Our free training will give you more information and ways to implement the curriculum that best fits you and your client.

Q: Can we see if clients complete the sessions?

A: Yes, and not only that, but you can also see the assignments they upload, review their answers to questions and quizzes, and leave them encouraging notes along the way. This is not a course you will text to your clients and wonder if they actually did it or not. You are with them every step of the way.
